Do You Know How To Get Your Expectations Up?

Do You Know How To Get Your Expectations Up?

You get what you expect. Our expectations, whether good or bad, often determine what our lives are going to be like.

Often prayers are prayed and then people wait to see whether it is God’s will to answer their prayer. If nothing happens after a certain time, they ‘humbly’ accept that it wasn’t God’s will to answer that particular prayer.

We are serving a loving God who is trustworthy. We are sons and daughters of the living God (Galatians 4:6 and Hebrews 2:10). There is no need for living in uncertainty.

God makes His will known to us in His Word. We are frequently encouraged by Jesus to pray and He makes bold statements such as: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”.

God Will Meet You Where You Are

God usually meets us at our level of faith. If we don’t expect much, we won’t receive much. But the opposite is also true. The more we expect, the more we receive. Look at what Jesus said to these men in Matthew 9:28-30 (NIV); “28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”

“Yes, Lord,” they replied.

29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.”

“According to your faith let it be done to you….”

I have recently done a guest post titled ‘What Do You Expect in Life?’ at Empowerment Moments Blog where the subject is discussed more in depth.
