a practical guide

The Blessing of the Lord [Book Review]

“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” Proverbs 10:22 (KJV). That is the scripture that the book, The Blessing of the Lord is based upon. If you expect to find a book that will teach you to “name it and claim it and become a millionaire”, you are missing the whole point. This book is about the blessing of the Lord, which entails much more than just money.

As I’ve heard Kenneth Copeland saying, “You can have a man with a million dollars in the bank, but if he doesn’t have love, he is just a poor man with a million dollars in the bank”.

The book clearly shows the difference between the blessing and the curse. It shows how you can receive the blessing into your life. God’s blessing covers all areas of our lives; physically, mentally and spiritually.

Kenneth Copeland explains how God blessed man through Adam, how the curse came into the earth and how the blessing has been restored again. He highlights the importance of the words we speak, because we either speak the curse or the blessing into our lives.

All the principles described in this book are backed up by scripture. You can look up every text and read it for yourself.

If you are anything like me, much of the information in this book might be things that you already know. But it gets explained in such a practical way, that you suddenly realize how to put it into practice and activate God’s blessings in your life.

The book has been written based on personal experience. Before Kenneth Copeland became a born-again Christian, his life was far from blessed.

“My life was a mess,” writes Kenneth Copeland. “A failed business venture had left me broke and unemployed. A lifetime of borrowing money had buried me under a mountain off debt that I had no way to repay”.

His previous lifestyle of sin, debt and failure had left him hopeless. Then he discovered the BLESSING.

God’s original plan for you is to bless you. Contrary to popular belief, he doesn’t want you sick, broke and lonely. Many people believe that God wants to teach them something through sickness or by keeping them poor. But sickness and poverty are part of the curse, and God doesn’t want us under the curse (Deuteronomy 28), He wants to bless you in every area of life – your health, finances, relationships and more.

What you will learn from this book:

  • God’ original intent for how His people should live.
  • God’s plan to restore the blessing after man sinned.
  • How God has empowered you to succeed.
  • How Jesus connects us to God’s blessing.
  • Why the blessing is both a spiritual and a material reality.
  • How to be living proof of God’s Word to others.
  • How love governs the operation of the blessing.

I have this book on my personal bookshelf and can highly recommend this book.
